Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. San Juan County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so a reply can be prepared. The message is kept within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure page traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that usage data for reporting. A browser can block cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
San Juan County Criminal History does not host, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the San Juan County Sheriff, the New Mexico courts, the New Mexico Department of Public Safety repository, and the New Mexico DPS Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted to a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider sets its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to San Juan County offices, New Mexico courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before sharing personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and select targeted advertisements.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Outside search providers that process a submitted query
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place material on pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet system is fully secure, however, and the site cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under eighteen. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Applicable New Mexico law may provide additional rights. The New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, NMSA 1978 §§ 14-2-1 through 14-2-12, governs access to government records, while the Arrest Record Information Act at § 29-10-6 controls subject access to arrest information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data held by the site
- Ask that inaccurate data be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law permits it
- Opt out of eligible forms of processing
